As production and
use of electronic products increases, so do the regulations
governing their disposal, making it vital for manufacturers
and consumers to understand how to best discard electronic
waste.
ISO announced
today that it has filed the industry’s first standard
coverage option for commercial property owners interested in
rebuilding damaged property with green alternatives.
The future
International Standard ISO 26000, Guidance on social
responsibility, has reached an important phase in its
development with its publication as a Draft International
Standard (DIS). A five-month balloting period (from 14
September 2009 to 14 February 2010) has now begun during
which the national member bodies of ISO will be able to vote
and comment on the text.
The ISO Standards collection – ISO 9000
Quality management on CD contains 18 standards. The
collection includes ISO 9001:2008, the latest edition of the
standard that establishes the requirements for a quality
management system and which can be used for certification by
organizations that wish to have their conformity to the
standard verified by an independent auditor.
ISO announced the launch of a new service
to help automobile recyclers, dismantlers, shredders, and
junk yards meet the new U.S. Department of Justice
requirement to report salvage vehicles to the National Motor
Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS).
The ISO Annual Report 2008 highlights the
ability of International Standards to provide confidence
during the current global financial crisis. The ISO Annual
Report 2008 goes on to give examples of ISO standards
published during the year which helped to provide confidence
in areas such as business continuity, e-business, the
environment, governance, health, innovation, measurement,
safety and sustainability. These are completed by a round-up
of the results achieved by ISO in 2008.
